Day Two

After you have your breakfast, get in the car. Enter in your navigation system “Troyan Monastery” or coordinates: 42.86228913562046, 24.781061582445165. You will take the road back to Troyan. You will enter the town and drive almost to the end of it until you see a sign for the village of Oreshak on your right. Turn right and drive on the road to the village of Oreshak (road III-357). Shortly after the sign for the village of Oreshak, after a gas station to your left, road III-357 turns to the left, and you will continue straight on “Stara Planina” Street.

By continuing to drive only straight you will reach the parking lot in front of the Troyan Monastery.

Working hours of the temple:

  • 7:30 – 19:00 in summer (Tuesday and Wednesday until 18:00);
  • 8:00 – 17:00 in winter.

Working hours of the museum:

  • 9:00 – 17:00

After visiting the Troyan Monastery, we recommend that you take your car on the way back along Stara Planina Street. In the immediate vicinity, to your left, is the National Exhibition of Crafts and Arts – Oreshak (coordinates 42.866870838970726, 24.779854769817092).

The exhibition was established in 1971. In its exhibition halls are shown unique objects of folk arts and crafts, made by prominent masters from all ethnographic regions of Bulgaria. The complex is located in a park with an area of ​​50 decares, and the exhibition itself has nine exhibition halls with a total exhibition area of ​​4200 sq.m.

Opening hours of the exhibition:

  • 9:00 – 17:30 Monday to Friday;
  • 10:00 – 18:00 Saturday and Sunday.

Prices for visiting:

  • Adults BGN 4;
  • Pupils, students and retired BGN 2;
  • Children up to 7 years. and people with disabilities – free of charge.

If desired, visitors can take part  in demonstrations of  weaving, woodcarving, pyrography and pottery, all of which they can try themselfs.

After viewing the Crafts Exhibition, head on the way back to Troyan again and if you are already hungry we recommend that you stop at the Kaiser Tavern (42.87821063272558, 24.774099043324725). It is close to the Crafts Fair, located to your right.
